Making homemade mayonnaise will be a before and after in your life. It comes together in less than 5 minutes and it's so easy! And... it is the queen of all sauces, at least at my home.

homemade mayonnaise

Making your own mayonnaise at home may seem very difficult, in fact, I never dared. Until the day that I looked at the amount of additives store bought mayonnaise had and when I realized the amount of money we spend on mayonnaise. We love mayonnaise at home and eat it with just about everything.

Ingredients you need to make Homemade Mayonnaise

The good thing about preparing mayonnaise at home is that probably you'll already have all the ingredients you need.

  • Egg: You are going to use a medium egg, I prepare it with the egg fresh from the fridge despite the fact that most people say that the egg must be at room temperature. I have never had problems using a cold egg, on the other hand, one day when I prepared it with the egg at room temperature it didn't work out for me
  • Sunflower oil: you need sunflower oil to make mayonnaise
  • Salt: add salt to your liking
  • Lemon: lastly you need lemon

Kitchen utensils you need to make this mayonnaise

You only need two things to make Homemade Mayonnaise:

  • Blender: you need a hand blender
  • Jar which comes with the hand blender

How to make the queen of all sauces

👉🏼 here to watch the video on how to make Homemade Mayonnaise.

In the glass of the hand mixer, add the egg, salt to taste (about two pinches of salt), the lemon juice (1/4 teaspoon) and 150 ml of sunflower oil on top. Place the mixer resting on the bottom of the mixer glass and beat without moving it for a few seconds, then raise and lower the mixer until it reaches the consistency of mayonnaise. Once it has reached consistency, add the remaining oil little by little (100 ml), and raise and lower the mixer. Now you have delicious homemade mayonnaise, enjoy!
