How to make Nectarine Iced Tea at home in a few steps

This recipe is inspired by the Nestea peach recipe, which I love so much, and I'm sure many of you do too. You'll need some sweet, ripe nectarines, some tea bags, and sugar. Below, I'll explain the recipe step by step.

Ingredients to make Nectarine Iced Tea

  • 1500 milliliters of water
  • 6 black tea bags
  • 150 grams of sugar
  • 3 very ripe nectarines (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1/2 lemon
  • ice cubes
Ingredients on a black countertop: three nectarines, half a lemon, a measuring cup with water, black tea bags, and a bowl of sugar.

💡 Trick: Use good quality black tea for a more authentic flavor, and avoid over-steeping to prevent bitterness.

How to make Iced Tea with nectarines

Step 1 – Prepare the tea

Warm 1.3 liters of water until it starts to boil (reserve separately 200 ml for the syrup). Add the tea bags and let it infuse between 3 and 5 minutes, depending on your preferred strength. Remove the tea bags to avoid an overly bitter taste and let cool.

Step 2 – Make the nectarine syrup

In a small saucepan put the 200 ml of water which you saved, the sugar and the cubed nectarines. When it boils, lower the heat and let it cook for 15 more minutesAfter that time, mash the fruit with a fork, turn off the heat and let it rest for another 15 more minutes to intensify the flavor.

Step 3 - Mix the tea and syrup

Strain the syrup and mix it with the tea. Add the juice of half a lemon.

Step 4 - Cool and serve

Refrigerate the drink until it's completely chilled. Serve it with plenty of ice and nectarine slices for an extra touch of freshness.

💡 Tips for your Nectarine Iced Te

  • Choose ripe nectarinesThe riper and sweeter they are, the less sugar or sweetener you will need to add.
  • Replace nectarines with peaches 🍑: if you can't find any nectarines or have peaches at home, you can use them without any problem. The flavor will be just as fruity and delicious, just a little milder.
  • Sweeten to your taste: taste the mixture first, as the ripe fruit provides natural sweetness. You can add honey, brown sugar, or sweetener to suit your taste.
  • More citrus flavor 🍋: an extra squeeze of lemon or lime juice enhances the freshness and balances the sweetness of the nectarine.
  • Play with the infusions: if you don't have black tea, it's also delicious with green tea or even red fruit infusions.
  • Special presentation: serve with ice, slices of nectarine (or peach) and a few mint leaves for an elegant finish.

Frequently Asked Questions About Homemade Nectarine Iced Tea

1. Can I make this recipe with peaches instead of nectarines?
Of course! 🍑 Peaches work perfectly as a substitute. The flavor will be just as fresh, although a little milder than with nectarines.

2. What type of tea is best for preparing this drink?
Black tea is most commonly used because it provides an intense flavor and pairs well with nectarines. However, you can also try green tea or even fruit infusions if you prefer something lighter.

3. How long can I store iced tea in the fridge?
It keeps well for 2 to 3 days in a sealed glass container. It's best to consume it as soon as possible to enjoy its full aroma and freshness.

4. Can I make it without sugar?
Yes. If the nectarines are very ripe, you'll barely need to sweeten them. If you want extra sweetness, you can use honey, agave syrup, or natural sweeteners.

5. Can it be prepared with sparkling water?
Yes! If you want a more vibrant and fun version, mix the iced tea with a little sparkling water just before serving.

6. Can I make this recipe in large quantities for a party?
No problem. Just multiply the ingredients and prepare a large pitcher. Add the nectarine slices and ice just before serving to make it fresh and delicious.

7. Can it be prepared without caffeine?
Sure, use decaffeinated black tea and follow the same steps.
