How to make homemade watermelon sorbet with an ice cream maker
Next I'll show you how to make watermelon sorbet in an ice cream maker. I use the Kitchenaid ice cream maker, but you can use the one you have at home.
Step 1 – make the syrup
Place the water and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. When it comes to a boil, let it bubble gently for about 5 minutes to form a light syrup. Then, remove from heat and let it cool completely before using it. If you're in a hurry, you can place the saucepan in an ice bath to speed up the cooling process.
Step 2 – Clean and blend the watermelon
Cut the watermelon into chunks and carefully remove all the seeds. Take it to the blender and blend until you get a smooth, fresh, and juicy texture, ready to turn into sorbet. You can strain it through a sieve to remove any lumps.

Step 3 – mix and ice cream maker
Blend the syrup with the blended watermelon until you get a smooth, even mixture. Pour the mixture into your ice cream maker and follow the appliance's instructions. If you use a KitchenAid ice cream maker, like me, turn it on and let the mixture slowly transform into a delicious sorbet. Let the machine run for 30 to 40 minutes, until it reaches the perfect consistency. Then, transfer the sorbet to an airtight container and store it in the freezer until ready to serve.
Step 4 - cool and serve
Transfer the sorbet to an airtight container and store it in the freezer until ready to serve. Serve it in chilled glasses and, if desired, garnish with fresh mint leaves or small pieces of watermelon for a special touch.
Bismillah✨

❓ Frequently Asked Questions about Homemade Watermelon Sorbet
1. Can I make the sorbet without an ice cream maker?
Yes, although the texture won't be as creamy. You can place the mixture in a freezer-safe container and stir every 30-40 minutes for 3-4 hours to break up the ice crystals and achieve a more uniform sorbet.
2. How long does sorbet last in the freezer?
Stored in an airtight container, the sorbet will keep for 1 to 2 weeks. To maintain its smooth texture, remove it a few minutes before serving.
3. Can I use another fruit instead of watermelon?
Of course! Fruits like mango or melon work very well. Just adjust the amount of sugar according to the natural sweetness of the fruit.
4. How do I make the sorbet creamier?
You can add a little bit of natural yogurt or Greek yogurt before putting the mixture in the refrigerator. This helps make the texture smoother and creamier.
